I’m pretty sure everyone will agree on this: The Jimmy Fund is an absolutely amazing organization to get involved with.
Their 9th Annual Radio-Telethon was held this past week and raised close to 3 million dollars for the Dana-Farber Institute. The Radio-Telethon started on Thursday and ended Friday night with the Red Sox vs. Blue Jays game (which I so luckily got to attend!)
Meredith Viera (Today Show) and Maura Tierney (most famous for ER) threw out the first pitch. Both ladies have personally been touched by cancer – Meredith’s husband has battled colon cancer twice and Maura just finished treatment after having a tumor removed from her breast.
This was a wonderful, successful event and I was so happy to be a part of it!

Now, next weekend is another big one for The Jimmy Fund! Next Sunday, August 29th (from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) is Fantasy Day at Fenway Park. Another fun, creative way to get the community together and help raise money to kick cancer’s butt – it’s going to be great!
So here’s the deal: those who will be participating in events on the field have been working hard and fund raising big time in order to make that happen. You may not be able to get on the field but, if you have fan zone tickets you’re able to “enjoy activities in the concourse and throughout the stands, including accuracy and fast pitch challenges, batting cages, face painting, park tours and more!” (including contests!)
Fantasy Day at Fenway sounds like a perfect day to me (I’m slightly obsessed with batting cages…) And I hope it sounds perfect to you as well because I’m giving away Fan Zone tickets!! I’ll pick four winners this Friday, August 27th – each winner will receive two tickets – woopwoop!
