A VS model isn’t happy with her body? Seriously?

I often see this woman on both the commuter rail as well as the shuttle I take from North Station to Kendall Square in the mornings. She seems very nice and is always friendly towards everyone. This morning I overheard her talking to someone about how ‘they’ were looking for a house in Newburyport. Isn’t it funny when you learn something about someone you don’t really know but you see everyday? I wanted to interrupt her conversation and say, ‘Wow, congratulations! I didn’t know you were looking for a house in Newburyport!’ Most likely she would have thought I was a weirdo… Anyway, not only did I see her on the train this morning, I saw her on the train this evening as well. After she got off, I saw that her husband was waiting for her. When he saw her his eyes lit up! She hurried over to him excitedly – both with big smiles – and grabbed onto each others hand. He started chatting right away, catching her up on all of today’s events. I heard them laughing and thought how wonderful this was to watch. I don’t know for a fact or anything, but my guess is that they’ve been married for a long time. They know each other like the back of their hand, and they still can’t wait to see each other after a long day at work. They still have so much to talk about and not only that, but their love for one another is still so evident, even a stranger can see it.

In other news…

No need to feel guilty for drinking too much coffee! Apparently there are plenty of benefits that come along with your morning cup, your mid-morning cup, your afternoon cup, your pre-commute home cup, etc. etc. etc.

A Victoria’s Secret model is not happy enough with her body? Is that a joke?

Come on? On one hand it’s like – how can she even say she wants ‘more of a booty’ that she’d be happy with that? She has a perfect body – she shouldn’t want more or less of anything! On the other hand, maybe she has a fast metabolism, is naturally thin and after losing baby weight had no shot of having curves. Maybe now she misses them and wants them back? Doubt she’ll go as far as gaining extra weight in order to get those curves back! I wanted to post this, because it truly goes to show you that you can be 5’10, 120lbs and still not be satisfied with your body. You can be 5’5 and 155lbs, or 4’11 130lbs, 5’8 185lbs, and you’re not happy with your body – you want to be skinnier, you want bigger boobs, you want a smaller waist, longer legs, more junk in your trunk and so forth. Wish for what you will, but remember, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

Whether you’re happy with your body or not, setting a goal to run a race (be it a 5k, 10k, half-marathon, marathon) will definitely make you feel good about your body. You’ll feel strong and proud. Consider it…

And if you do consider it, remember that it’s not all about what your body can do, it’s also about what your mind can do. Here are a few pointers from MORE magazine that will help you keep your mental focus in tact during the race.

And with that, I’ll leave you with this:

Remember my friends and I went to Shecky’s Girl’s Night Out? Well, my beautiful, trend setting friend Christine (X) made their website in her awesome red coat! Check her out –

It’s been a long one – time for bed! Goodnight :)

Happy birthday H !!

First and foremost, I’d like to wish one of my best friends in the world, Heather an extremely happy HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I miss her so much and wish I could be celebrating with her right now. We’ll have to make up for it next time I’m in NY. :)

Mary, Heather and Myself at Meg's bachelorette party !

Heather, Colleen and Mary do Hawaii. Heather came out to visit Mar and I when we were living there :)

We're best friends and we play intense games of cranium.

Last night I went to the Shecky’s Girls Night Out event with Nuge, X and Alana. We got discounted tickets on http://www.buywithme.com/ so they were $20 (opposed to $30) and you got 5 drink tickets, along with a goody bag – not too shabby! The goody bag was packed with a ton of great stuff. I <3 free things. Who doesn’t? (*I also got a free gift from Macy’s when I bought some makeup yesterday too – I love free gift time.)

So overall it was a fun time. There were tables set up with clothes from different boutiques (although I was a bit disappointed in the selection – I was in the mood to buy but there wasn’t anything that interested me. Stinky) they also had jewelry, makeup, etc etc. These two girls from NYU were selling these City Slippers which are roll up ballet type slippers that you can just throw in your bag – they were awesome! These girls were in their early twenties and started the business right in their college dorm, I was so impressed! Nuge, X and Alana bought some, but my big flippers didn’t fit! Embarrassing.

My only critiques would be that they should have had food served, or at least available to purchase. And, they should have had more seating areas (they only had one very small section.) I mean, the event is from 6pm-10pm, right after work. I am hungry, my feet hurt (probably cause they’re so big) and I don’t necessarily want to stand around for four hours. However – if there were seating areas where we could have sat, had some food/drinks and chatted after doing a few laps of browsing – that would have been awesome. Just a suggestion… Either way, I had fun, because I always have fun with my buddies.

  • By the way, the other day this guy at work asked me if I had a black eye. Yeahhh, I just got into a fight on a casual Tuesday night and came into work without putting makeup on my shiner. A G-string and a mask?

Tonight I’ll be attending the Harris Center’s 2010 Public Forum held in the Burden Auditorium at the Harvard Business School at 6pm. The Harris Center at Massachusetts General Hospital is ‘dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with eating disorders.’ The forum topic is Health Matters: Weight and Wellness in the World of Fashion. The guest speakers are Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Magazine, Michael Kors, American fashion designer as well as a judge on Lifetime TV’s Project Runway, and Natalia Vodianova, a Russian model and Philanthropist. I am thrilled to be able to go – I was originally on the wait list for this but recently received confirmation of my attendance. I’m sure I will have a lot to say about this tomorrow…

Also, Thursday a few of my girl friends and I are going to the Shecky’s Girls Night Out event at Cyclorama – 539 Tremont Street – Thursday 5-10pm. Some big news today is that President Obama will be signing the $875 billion healthcare reform bill at The White House tomorrow morning. Some people are over-the-moon happy and some people are beyond pissed.

I’m very interested in what everyone thinks about this. Have an opinion? Email me at thedailycraic.wordpress@gmail.com and I will feature some answers later this week.

On a different note, apparently a woman in Hooksett, N.H. was attacked by a man wearing only a G-string and a mask. Pretty creative and heinous all at the same time. I’ll probably have nightmares about this tonight, it sounds even scarier than a Komodo Dragon.

I hope everyone is having a great day thus far :)
